Think globally, act locally.

ECO-RESPONSIBLE PRACTICES

The multiple benefits of Espace La Fontaine are complemented by our eco-responsible practices, which encourage local purchases, recycling and recovery, and promote the reduction of greenhouse gases.

Green initiatives

We are proud to welcome our clientele to one of the most beautiful green spaces in Montreal, in a renovated heritage site, taking into account the best architectural and landscaping practices.

Every day, we see how to reduce our ecological footprint by:

  • Limiting waste, especially at the water level, food and furniture;
  • Favoring the use of recyclable materials;
  • Avoiding disturbing or modifying the habitat of animals that have taken up residence in the park;
  • Promoting public transit, as well as active transportation such as cycling;
  • Focusing on suppliers, suppliers and local products;
  • Having set up a waste sorting system.

A strong community

We strongly believe that it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to ensure the well-being of all citizens. At Espace La Fontaine, we are committed to contributing to the well-being of everyone, including by offering:

  • Interesting social conditions for each employee;
  • Employment opportunities for residents, minorities and the elderly;
  • Solutions adapted to the specificities of each employee, customers and partners.

In addition, we strive to reduce social inequities through collaboration with local associations and projects, to promote dialogue and free expression among board members, partners and clients, and to preserve, share and disseminate local heritage.

A responsible economy

A responsible economy is the fact of reconciling the viability of a project with principles of social and environmental ethics.

In this vein, we favor:

  • A circular economy, which aims to reduce, recover, recycle and repair instead of producing;
  • Transparency in our economic decisions.

Sustainable development in the kitchen

Our kitchen team also respects the best practices of sustainable development.

So our decisions are focused on making better choices for our products and suppliers:

  • We favor local and seasonal foods;
  • We respect the producers and their profession;
  • We offer fair trade coffee, Quebec wine and craft beers;
  • We make sure that each of our suppliers respects the same values as we do in terms of sustainable development.

In addition, we make sure to reduce our waste production:

  • We avoid individually packaged products as soon as possible;
  • Our take-out menus are served in biodegradable containers;
  • We do not sell bottled water, pitchers and a fountain are available;

Finally, our menu includes vegetarian menus, an increasingly popular alternative to meat with a very high environmental impact.
